This past weekend, we sat in on teacher, Lynda Kingsley’s, Alcohol Ink class! This class was a one-of-a-kind, special experience in which students had the opportunity to explore a unique medium and create their own art to take home!

The class was perfect for the upcoming season because students had the chance to create meaningful greeting cards for the holidays. Handmade greeting cards are a great gift because friends and family can enjoy your personalized piece of art!

The Details:

Alcohol ink was applied to yupo paper to create our greeting cards. Yupo paper is unique because it is nearly impossible to fracture.

The ink is dropped onto the yupo paper, after which students can manipulate the ink by rolling the paper in different directions, using Q-tips or inexpensive brushes to create shapes (the ink stains!), and then spraying the paper with water or alcohol.

The wonderful thing about using this medium is that there is no wrong way to do it! You can choose to create a stunning abstract piece or a carefully-constructed piece.

Alcohol ink is easy to learn and the materials are inexpensive. Plus, there is a wide variety of materials that can be used, such as alcohol ink on ceramic tiles.
