Zbigniew Kopania was born in Poland in 1949 and graduated from the world-famous Polish Film Academy in 1973. While studying at the Academy, he developed an interest in painting.
His unique talents were discovered by a well-known contemporary Polish artist, Jerzy Mierzejewski, and after graduating, he became a full-time artist.
Kopania was fascinated by the precision, detail and craftsmanship of Dutch and Flemish paintings. His earlier paintings were stylizations of Dutch Masters. In his search for his own style, he is breaking away from dark, solemn tones and is now using much lighter pastel colors.
Kopania's paintings are exhibited and sold in galleries in Amsterdam and Los Angeles.
