ABOUT wood turner PARTICIPANT KEVIN BASSETT:
Kevin Bassett's interest in the art of wood turning evolved from his intensive study of plant pathology in his home state of Colorado, followed by a distinguished 40-plus-year career as a certified arborist. He describes his work as a collaboration with nature. "Even though I choose the shape, form and utility of a piece of a tree, ultimately the tree has its own voice. I am only a conduit through which the tree is able to speak."
Bassett's artwork ranges from decorative vases to functional items to intricately-laced sculptures. Each piece is one of a kind.
