Class Description
In this workshop you will gain confidence in the fundamental aspects of digital images, Photoshop editing and compositing. You will broaden your creative spectrum with techniques for overlaying and mixing your physical art and digital photography with your own creative style. You will also learn how to know with certainty what your digital colors should look like when reproduced physically.
The workshop is structured in morning and afternoon segments consisting of instruction and demonstration, followed by group discussion, then a block of time for experimentation, and, because the class size is kept small, ample time for Brad to provide one-on-one problem solving for each attendee during each experimentation session.
Topics include resolution, compression, layers, masks, selections, channels, transformations, curves, levels, histograms, filters, brushes, blends, gradients, groups, sharpening, textures, distortions, color spaces, and much more.
Brad will help you climb Photoshop’s steep initial learning curve quickly and safely, so you can confidently embark on your own personal exploration of the vast world of creative possibility that Photoshop opens up to you.
About the Instructor
Brad Funkhouser graduated from The University of Texas in 1986 with a degree in Computer Science and has lived in the North Dallas area ever since. He began using Photoshop with its initial release in 1990 and has actively ridden the leading edge in the emerging fields of digital imaging and color management, specializing in fine art reproduction services. He loves to research technologies, experiment, refine processes, and teach what he’s learned. While working with a multitude of talented artists on a wide variety of imaging projects, Brad has regularly provided individualized digital imaging consultation and training, allowing him to develop and hone his instructional skills over the years.

Your own PC or Mac that you can bring to the workshop with an installed and working version of Photoshop (5, 6, 7, CS1, CS2, CS3, CS4, CS5, CS6, or CC), or Adobe Photoshop Elements - any version (which may be downloaded for free 30 day trial).
For experimentation: your own digital photography files, digital images of your physical art, scans or photographs of various items of interest to you, fabric textures, bubbles, patterns, etc.
