Lise Dearborn

Although Denmark native Lise Dearborn began her foray into the arts as a piano and voice student, she knew at a young age that she would someday become a visual artist. In the early 1980s, she earned an Art History degree, with a concentration in modern art, from the University of Illinois-Chicago. She later earned her Master's of Fine Arts degree in studio arts from San Jose State University.

Lise paints primarily in oil, on canvas, linen, board and masonite. Her work has been shown in galleries throughout the U.S. and has been accepted into numerous juried exhibitions in Texas, California and Washington.

Lise’s work is influenced by her exposure to many cultures. Further, the artist says, “My sources of inspiration range from such contemporary artists as Asker Jorn, Sean Scully and Agnes Martin, to Brice Marden and Jonathan Lasker, as well as many other New York painters.”
