Juan Hernandez

Juan was born in Monterrey, Mexico in 1960.

During his youth, Juan enjoyed the best of two worlds, experiencing simultaneously the rich and colorful culture of Mexico and the closely related American southwest culture, found in Texas. This mingling and converging of the two cultures proved to be a continuos influence on Hernandez’ artwork.

After a period of painting independently and shaping his own opinions of art, Juan was accepted to Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas on a full scholarship in the Meadows School of Fine Arts, where he graduated in 1990 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree.

Juan is currently a visual art teacher at Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts, in Dallas, Texas, where he teaches painting and drawing.
