Elaine Monnig

Elaine Monnig draws much inspiration from traveling, enjoying the beauty of Colorado's Rocky Mountains, the brilliant and subtle colors of the Southwest, and the calming inspiration of coastlines throughout the United States. Each region holds endless painting possibilities. Elaine has enjoyed painting en plein air throughout the United States, in southern France, Italy, Scotland, Switzerland, the Cotswolds, and Lake District of England. She feels that painting en plein air is not only a great teaching tool, it is also truly inspirational.

Elaine's work was chosen for the 17th annual Pastel 100 Competition. Her paintings appear in the Pastel Journal, American Art Collector, and Western Art Collector. She was juried into the Telluride Plein Air 2016 event, and was also juried into the American Impressionist Society's 10th National Exhibition. Elaine was awarded People's Choice int eh Pastel Society of Southeast Texas Exhibition at Pearl Fincher Museum of Fine Arts. She is a member of American Impressionist Society, Oil Painters of America, the Pastel Society of Southeast Texas, Outdoor Painters Society, and a Master Signature member of Artists of Texas. Elaine donates paintings to several organizations to help in their fund raising efforts. Her paintings have been in silent auctions at Houston's annual "Golfers Against Cancer" benefit, Carrie's Heart Organization Events, and Regina Caeli Events.

Elaine Monnig believes that "painting is a way I share my love of life's beauty. To capture and preserve the emotion that I feel while painting a particular piece, and in turn, share it with others, is one of the most rewarding aspects of being an artist. I truly enjoy seeing the emotional response that my paintings draw from the viewer. I love to become completely absorbed in painting from life, whether it be a breathtaking view or capturing the sweet innocence of a child at play."
